Default Reggio Reds

Went down to Reggio today to take my stepdad on his first redfishing excursion. We were greeted this morning by gusting winds and a little cloud cover. The tide was ripping but the fish weren't moving. I was getting a little nervous that he wasn't going to land his first red. We saw quite a few fish mid morning but he wasn't able to close the deal. I decided to make a move and hit a spot I have never been and the rest is history as they say. My stepdad landed his first 5 redfish on a spincaster and me and my little brother landed 4 on the fly! We set up in a little cut surrounded by grass and watched upwards of 30 redfish file out in schools of 5 to 10. Needless to say my pops had a great time and can't wait to go back. All and all a really good day.

Sounds like you had a great trip today.

I bet it was way cool to see the reds come out of the cut like that.

Yeah Paul, it was hard to believe there were more back in there. We would watch a group swim by only to look up and there were more coming. They would just circle down the canal and come back up. We watched them do this for two hours. We would pick one off every once in a while. It was the heat of the day by this time and they were picky and sluggish.

Like always...great report and cool pictures. It's crazy how much grass is in that water, just don't see that over here.

Thanks Micah! Pictures are normally the only way I relive the moments. I did make an exception yesterday keeping fish for my mom.

Bob, if you think you have to be invited then I have misrepresented myself. You are welcome anytime my brother. Say the word and you are there.
