Bite the bullet and just change out your trim motor. Water probably got into motor and screwed up the brushes or armature. I've gone through 3 motors already on my 220hp evinrude.....

Damn, I also have a evinrude. Kinda reminds me of a starter on a vehicle when the starter doesn't work then tap on it and then it works.

You check the trim relay? Follow your wire diagram. Contacts may be corroded. Sometimes on some motors the trim relay is jumped to more than just trim. Jmo. I've seen it be a major problem on my buddies motor. Take it out unplug battery clean it put it back in and reconnect. Sometimes it's just something as simple as that or the harness. I'd try that before getting a new motor. You should have a wiring layout in the back of your manual

I had the same problem before. Is it both the up and down trim not working, do you hear any noises when trying to trim? If the up and down isn't working with no noises at the motor, it's very possible that its just the switch (trim buttons) that tells the trim motor what to do. Also how many spots can you trim from? Are they both not working, if they are both not working then hope it's just the relays lol idk how much the whole trim would cost but to me that's probably what it would be unless you are hearing noises when you try trimming. If your hearing noises you may just need some more fluid, which is fairly easy to do yourself.
