Default Spiders

Any closet entomologist on board?
This spring i am having a bad problem w/ brown recluse spiders.
Not the little dime size ones i usually see around the wood pile,In the last 4 days i have killed two that were as big as a 50cent piece.
One under my carport between 2 freezers and then last night one on my dogs bed by the front door.
never seen one inside b4 ? Talked to my vet today to find out what would happen if a recluse that size bit my dog and the answer was more than likely he would be put down to keep from dying avery painful death.
Any one got a reasonable idea as to why they are out and giant size all of a sudden???

I went to a house a month ago to change some carpet and treat the floor because of cat urine. I pulled the carpet and there was a huge one living underneath the carpet by the wall, I'm not scared of spiders but I've seen the scars from the bites and I slap my self after any little thing touches me after I see one!

Get some Suspend. It is not cheap, but it is pet friendly and you will not see another spider in 3 months. You can get it online at a do it yourself pest control site.

there is a chemical called Demon. It should still be available at feed mills and such. it is extremely affective and safe for people and animals.

I never noticed the recluses too much but working on boats all the time I see my share of black and brown widows alot. Killed a nasty black in a bass boat yesterday. They love cool moist areas like bilges and such. This one was right under the console where your knees go with a big egg sac.

starting fluid and a lighter...............I had Black Widows living in my motorcycle......every single night I'd kill anywhere from 5 to 10 of them.........Took me MONTHS to get rid of the problem, but it gave me something to do everynight!!!

yeah, when I was younger, I had a big momma living under my 10 speed bicycle seat. I still get a shrivel when I think about that.

I can't stand to see a spider, they can have whatever there on. Anything with 8 legs has to be a bad S.O.B. in my book.

Mr. Bob, the black widow and brown recluse populations are down in Louisiana for some reason but the brown widows are being seen more and more lately. Scary because most people don't know what they are and therefore don't know how dangerous they are. There is a chemical that you can buy at Pest Stop in Baton Rouge and probably other places called (Suspend SC). It is a barrier treatment that you can spray safely around your home (read and apply according to label). It will kill a variety of insects including ants, mosquitoes, and termites. We use it to spray around ball park bleachers in WBR parish to control ants, mosquitoes, flies, and spiders. It will usually last 10 or more days (unless it rains) and it relativly inexpensive as good insect chemicals go. I am not an expert on spiders but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night. If I can be more helpful you can contact me at WBR Mosquito Abatement @ 225-214-5900. Good luck. Wayne .
