Default Joseph's Harbor

Went out to Joseph's Harbor yesterday with my brother and could only find small ones biting. Only my second time out there and wanted to know the secrets about how to stay away from all the small ones and catch a few big ones??? Any help for out there would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Here is what I know. I'm not a regular there but I have spent a few days on the water there. As for the trout, most of the spawning size trout are offshore right now leaving mostly juveniles inshore in the refuge. There should be plenty of keeper size reds, just look for descent water and bait. I rarely fish this area in the summer but I would try to fish the headquarters canal, the mud hole, the marsh behind the mudhole, and the marsh behind the LSU weir. To fish the latter you must exit your boat and walk down the bank so I never fish there but have many friends who do and they catch. Good luck.
