Eek Biggen on Big Lake

Things kinda slow so I thought I would post this:

9lb spec caught a couple of months ago...these cats asked how we were doing...my buddys trolly went out and we were anchored not catching a thing...replied "not too good!". Asked how they were doing, said they been picking them up pretty steady and he had one big one, about 32"... thats easily a 8-9lber...asked him if he had a scale, he said no...Get over here I got a boga grip!!! Grabbed her out of the box and she came out to 9lbs...picture does no justice to her size. Asked him since its dead are the gonna mount it...he pointed to his stomach and said "probably look better right here!"...He said he may get a replica. Best part is these cats were from TEXAS!! They were tourney bass fisherman...they were pretty cool though, besides catching the 9lber. I was bummed out (caught right by us)...but cool to see a biggen like that...

Default Whole Lotta Trout Almandine

Man I hope he mounted that fish, that’s a shame if it became "Trout Almandine".

On the bright side he could have had the worms for an appetizer. MMM Tasty.

SUL,

I ain't doubting the weight as much as I am the length. A 32" trout should bust the 11 lb. mark.

If 32" it was probably already spawned out.....no belly in the pic.

Its a shame....imho.....fish like that needs to be mounted or released to fight another day. Or measure it, take pics, and have replica mount made. Just my 2 cents.

Or, measure it, take pics, release it and enter it in the CCA CPR program.

Alot of people spend a lot of time trying to catch a fish this size...take a pick and let her go.

you couldn't post a fish without them telling you how sorry you was for not throwing it back. This is a battle no one will win

I'm not qualified to tell someone they should release a fish like that. However, eating it is one thing and mounting it is another. Anyway, I haven't always been as conservation-minded as I am now. I've mounted several big trout and I have since realized what a waste it was. They're stacked up in the corners of my boat shed.

i not trying to start anything or call anyone out just making a statement about how bad they would make people feel on the other site when someone was so proud of their fish.
