Dularge Trout Fishing

Sunday morning report. Woke up thinking it would be very windy and really surprised to find calm conditions with light rain. Capt Travis Lovell and I fished with a great group of guys and had lots of laughs. The 6 man crew included Derek Fife,Renee Ragas,David Balholf,Tim George,Derek Fitch and J. Bonaventure from the Baton Rouge area. To sum it up quickly, the trout bite(keeper trout) was very slow! Travis and I fished everywhere between Bayou Grand Caillou and Lost Lake covering 25 plus miles in our effort to find the trout. Found lots of little fish under birds in Mechant but most locations only had a few fish at each stop. 31 trout and 1 redfish was our final tally for the day as we arrived back at the camp just after the noon hour. The larger trout were caught on reefs and not under birds. Purple Haze swim baits and Bayou Chubs in various colors worked the best. Good luck fishing.
