Yeh the main reason i bought it was because I had about 20 gallon ziplocks of fresh yellowfin tuna from Green Canyon last year. And they say you aren't supposed to freeze tuna in water. They are nice and save alot of space but can be a pain to deal with making the bags, etc. Overall though, I would say worth the money just for space saving. That frozen water takes up ALOT of space.

I bought a vacuum pack machine in 1994. Broke this year. Couldn't get parts.
So I bought a new one. It is a lot better than the old one.
I found the part I needed for the old one on Ebay. So now I have 2 of them.
I pack 2 big fillets to a pack or 4 to 6 small fillets to a pack.
They lay very flat, makes them easy to stack and saves lots of room in the freeza.
They also thaw out faster then if packed in water.
I say they are worth the money, if you catch fish or BBQ a lot.
My wife don't cook, so I BBQ or smoke what ever is on sale at Market Basket and
vacuum pack it in individual packs for her when I am offshore.

Both are the same brand. But I am offshore and can't remember the brand name.
The cost of the one I bought in 1994 was about $125 and the new one is around
the same price a couple months ago.
I like them both. But the new one has the roll in the machine. The older one, you
have to cut the bag yourself with scissors.

Ziplock has vacuum seal freezer bags in various sizes. They sell a manual vacuum pump that you use to evacuate the air. I find this to be the most convenient way to freeze fish or meat.

I strongly recommend a vacume sealer. They are well worth the money! I bought a food saver bac 1200 at least 6 years ago and it is still going strong with moderate usage.

Vacume sealing lasts much longer than freezing in ice. It also preserves the texture of the meat. The ice destroys the fish. Vacume sealed fish is as close to fresh fish as you can get.

This is a no-brainer as far as i am concerned.

Good eating..........

Food Saver. That is the brand I have.
Bought 1 in 1994 and still works great.
I got the newer, more fancy version this summer.

food saver model V3420 at wal mart. I do alot of meat smoking and i use it alot.
wont vac seal liquids but you can freeze gumbo or chilli in a small pan and then remove from the pan and vac seal. Buy lg pkgs of meat and seal in serving size portions . Raw meat can / will last over a year when sealed.
