Thank's Salty. We did throw back another 34 incher due to only two of us in the boat. The first advice that I heeded strictly was to read the Regulation Manual frequently and keep a copy in the boat. That advice came from my brother , a Federal Agent with the U.S. dept of wildlife and Fisheries, Enforcement division (a fed) Relax everyone, what is said here, stays here.

"W", after I cleaned the two big ones and cut out all the red meat, I gave it to my cajun Aunt who knew how to further process it. Trust me, she can make garfish balls taste like Pompano.

Not bad man. Welcome to the Cajun.
And welcome to your new addiction. The best reds are the 17 inch ones. |

welcome, nice catch I usually throw back all 27" and over that's because reds don't spawn when there any shorter than 27". and yes the 17"-22" are the best to eat. I like to grill them with some "slap yo mama"!
