Went Saturday and was really slow. My buddy went back yesterday afternoon and only got 1. Didn't hear anything good from anyone out there either.

Me and a buddy kayaked it Sat. and caught 10. We went this morning in boat with trolling motor in unit D again and caught 6 before the wind picked up. All you can fish is the outer canal the middle is only about 1 foot deep except by the island. Sat if I would have brought in every fish I hooked I would have limited out but I missed at least 8 to 10 fish that just spit my Hook.

I agree with tgsx. I fished the lil north and big north ponds. The big north pond is stupid low. I did find an area covered with gar, carp, gators and a few nice bass. The water temp is well over 73 degrees. I really feel the fish had mostly already spawned before the refuge had opened. I caught my fish on a Bass Kandi speed bug in watermelon gold. I even caught fish on a crank bait in the canals.

Rumors are that the game wardens stuck a boat with a 70 horse mudbuddy in the trail going to the blue grove area.

That's what my buddy from work told me. He said it took a airboat to get them back to the canal.

He also told me he talked to some gamewardens when they were leaving, and they told them it's gonna take one hell of a rain to put water in there. They also told him come by the end of april if we don't get no rain that the marsh will be bone dry, and not to be suprised if they don't close it. That's coming from my buddy and the guy he was with that spoke with the gamewardens.

The Federal Numbskulls that manage the Refuge are the reason its in poor shape, oh lets drain the Pool so we can burn the vegetation for the waterfowl, the lacassine pool could be the Premier Fishing Spot in the south if they would leave it alone, spend our tax dollars wisely, install a fresh water well and pump in water, idiots, thats all I have to say about that!!!!!!

I agree they spent all kinds of tax payers money for nothing! Them pumps haven't ran since they were installed. I believe if that place was ran right the state record would come out of there imo.
