oyster reef

came across a guy taking out his old drive way which is old oyster shell. figure its about 60 yards of material. my question is if i wanted to put these out in front of our wharf at big lake is there a permit or some kind or permission needed to do this?

thought about it but dont want to get slapped with a fine which im sure is high. louisiana has some steep penalties for tampering with coast/wetlands. just trying to see what kind of options i have.

i live in bayou vista,tx. and our rule is if it came out of the water it can go back in, i dump oyster shell, broken concrete and rock on my bulkhead anytime i can get it. it keeps erosion down and saves the bulkhead. not to mention the marine life it draws.

I thought they only wanted shell on existing reefs?? Could be wrong tho.....I say do it at night
