Anyone interested in making a surf fishing trip to Grand Isle one day next week? I'm driving and have room for 6. Looking either get there either early in the am(leaving Luling at 3ish or leave at noon and come back when its dark. Or after we limit out.

Wednesday is showing only a 5mph wind. Any day is good except for Thursday. You can give me a shout at (504)606-9538.

My brother was down there yesterday and said the surf was calm, but dirty, dirty. Couldn't catch any fish, but about 2 dozen crabs with only 3 set nets. He went to the bay and caught a bout 3 keeper trout that was it.

yea the fishng has been slow the last few weeks on the island. The best we've been doing at the oyster hatchery has been late at night underneath the lights but even that's hit or miss from night to night

only reason the surf has been slow was because of dirty water from south winds. If the winds stop they will be there. U can usually hammer them on the rocks this time of year on the rocks in front of the sure way with croaker on the bottom. We fished this past Friday-sunday on reefs in the bay. Friday we got on some good trout around 16 inches, once we got to # 20 a storm blew in and ran us back to the camp. Saturday we anchored on a sunken island and probably caught over 300 trout between 6 of us on the boat but only had 50 keepers. Buddies probably threw back alot of keepers though since they didnt realize the 0 on the measuring stick started about an inch over from the beginning of the ruler. The trout would only bite live shrimp under the loud green/orange plastick clip on popping corks with the loud rattles. They wouldnt touch my cajun thunder popping cork, doa, or any cocahoe.

We caught good sized fish at the Camanida(spelling) pass and way to the East of Grand Isle back in the bay on some reefs. We had to run close to an hour to get to some good sized fishes.
Everything else around the island was between 12 and 14 inches.
We were measuring everything.
We caught a good one, we would say "It's a solid 13 incher"...
