Default Went by Verizon today....

And I'm disappointed in the phones they have. I'm eligible for an upgrade so I've been reading reviews. I went by the store this morning to look at the newer phones in person. They have some nice features, but all of them are sluggish compared to the iphone. I played with the htc thunderbolt, htc incredible 2, droid x2, lg revolution and samsung droid charge. All of them are snappier than my droid, but not as smooth as I expected. I'm going to go by next week and play with the droid 3 and I think they have a windows 7 phone I want to check out. I used to be an iphone hater but apple really has a polished product.

It's very similar to the charge I noticed. Definitely better than what I have now. If I had never played with my wife's iphone I would be very impressed with the new androids.

I don't think you'll be happy with the speeds you get tethering a 3g phone to a computer. I've done that before when my dsl was out and it works but it's not fast. I've read that tethering works pretty good with 4g, too bad it's not available around here.

I can tell you that tethering to 4g is very fast. I was in Houston and CC and used my EVO instead of the hotel's WiFi. Tethering was much faster.

I can't wait for 4g. I'm going to get a 3g phone and hopefully 4g will be here for my next upgrade. Hoping they will do better on battery by then.

I think the real choice is buy the 4 or wait until the next version comes out. My wife has the 4 and the smoothness of the operating system, display, camera and battery life are very impressive.

I like he Droid operating system better than the apple. Those 4 extra buttons at the bottom are fantastic!

My problem with the speed is cause I have nothing on the SD card. Its all stored on the phone

I really miss the back button when using an iphone. It's so convenient. I move every app I can to the sd card on my droid. I wish I could move more because I'm continually running out of space on the phone. I think phone storage is faster than sd card storage though. Android has a lot of potential. I can do more things with my phone compared to an iphone, but it is really rough around the edges. Hopefully it will be more polished in a couple of years.

The incredible 2 they had on display wouldn't connect to the internet for some reason, so I played with one that belonged to a salesman. I think it would have done better with a different launcher. I think htc sense and motoblur slow the phones down. I thought it was a very nice phone though. When I go back I'm going to play with it again.

You think its the processor in he Droid that makes it slower than the iPhone? Playing with 2 side by side. Spin the 2 and the iPhone screen turns much faster. Go to a function (like camera) and the iPhone is faster there 2.

Apple uses a gpu (graphics) in their software and android doesn't or uses it very little. I think htc uses it some in htc sense. As far as downloading web pages the newer androids are just as fast as the iphone, it's just switching between screen that the iphone has the advantage. I used to be an iphone hater, but when my wife was eligible for an upgrade I did a lot of research and ended up getting the iphone for her due to problems I was having with my phone. Now I am impressed with it, it's not perfect but it is pretty nice.
