Default BL - 7/31 Night Trip

One last night trip with the kids before school and football season starts. Practice four days a week along with school will keep the kids from fishing very much over the next several months. The fish were a little harder to find last night. We hit our first two spots and only had a around 10 fish. I usually talk to the HR&G night stalker at night and Captain Jason talked me in to coming and fishing around a 1,000 or so yards away from him, that move was the ticket. They finished up with 120 fish by 11:30 and offered me their spot but by the time they left my fish had turned on. We had our 60 just before 2:00 on plastic with a 1/8 oz jig and some shrimp on the bottom, they wouldn't touch a cork last night.

Good trip and report. Would it be possible to see up on most any major reef and have some luck or are there specific night spots that folks tend to hit?

Clean water is very important, most of the major reefs that are good during the day are good at night. Almost all summer the winds have picked up at night and that keeps us more or less in the channel, those nights can be a challenge. I thought night fising would be really easy but it does take more skill than I realized. Just pulling up at a random spot with the lights usually does not work.
