Headknocker Awful Prien Trip 12/10

Decided to fight the cold with my brother in law and fellow SC Keith Thib. It was a cold windy one Sat morning to say the least. That was just the beginning of a HORRIBLE day. Got to our spot right at daylight. First cast of the topwater sent my brand new skitterwalk about 100 yards and a backlash from H E L L. Was soo bad i had to put the reel down. Well i lost that skitter walk. Pick up the cumara and 4 casts later i go to sling the jig out and WHAM the cumara snaps in half almost down to the reel seat. switched out the other rod and reel and was back at it. make a drift and catch 5 trout and 1 red. pull up to another spot where birds are working.... fighting the trolling motor was soo bad i was barely able to make a cast in the birds. decided to anchor off and try that. picked up spincast with cork for shots and giggles. cork goes under.... hook set then wham my line breaks at the tip. go to tie on another cork and line breaks again. after about 50 curse words we move only to catch 5 more trout total. Ended the trip with 10 trout, 1 red, broken cumara, backlashed curado, worn out fishing line, one lost skitterwalk, one less cork, and a partidge in a pear tree. Due to high winds and anger the trip was cut short at 9 AM and NO pics. On another note what started out to be a routine thermostat replacement in my truck ended up being a water pump extraction bc a nut broke off... EZ out broke off too. I was livid. 25 dollar job turned into a 125 dollar job and 4-5 hours of my saturday. Guess we all have days like this. chalk it up to humility. I wish my buddies would've snapped a picture when i was in my fit of rage. I was soo mad i started to laugh histerically.

P.S. all fish caught on sparkle beetles, skitterwalk (not mine lol) , and popncork DOA

Bummer about the bad day. I think we've all had those. Still not bad for short trip other than the broken and messed up equipment.

I feel for ya. I had one of those a few years back. I lost a $500 rod/reel combo, a brand new $150 pair of sunglasses (that was the first and only trip I wore them), broke a $300 cell phone, all after a full day of fishing with only 3 trout to show for it. To put the icing on the cake, I even managed to fall out of the boat right before we headed back to the launch. Almost everyone is due for one of those days at some point. All that means is that your next trip will be a great one!

Unless you put them back, those 10 trout and 1 red had a worse day than you did.
