Default Losing RPM's at WOT.

Okay, something weird starting happening with my Yam 200 HPDI. It's got about 60 hours on it, and with my current prop it would run strong all the way up to WOT at about 5600 RPM. Recently, it runs fine up to about 4800, but when I push it up to WOT it actually loses power and about 500 RPM's. You can feel it; it feels like you are pulling back on the throttle.

I had a full service on it; all plugs and filters changed, but it is still doing it. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel restriction....did you check your fuel line and primer bulb?

Like Ryan just said.....You could have something blocking the fuel flow to the engine.

Maybe try some Seafoam or other product to clean out the fuel system.

Same exact problem on my 08 250 HPDI, need to have your screens cleaned and filters changed, parts alone were close to $200,,, they will blame it on bad gas and your total bill will be between 4-500 good luck and PM me if you have any questions,,,, also I was told that it is a DIY job but I chose to let the dealer do it b/c they cost a lot to rebuild when you burn them lol,,,, see if one of the filters on from that service cost like $100, if not start by changing that one

Check your primer bulb & filters to see if you have liner material from the fuel line coming apart internally from the ethenol fuels. Check your pick up tube in tank, make sure it does not have any rust holes in it causing to suck air. There is also a chance that you may have a torn diaphram in the fuel pump. I would start with the fuel lines first.

Check your plugs and have a dealer check your coils

Check your fuel filter again, if its dirty again you got trash in your fuel tank.

That is ok on a carb motor but not on a fuel injected. Running that HPDI or any fuel injected outboard out of fuel will cut the life span down on the fuel pump big time.
