Default 2001 Honda 50HP

I am looking at a 2001(we think)50HP Honda to put on a pontoon boat. The motor was used for 10 yrs in Monroe for the zoo/La Purchase Gardens. I am told that they ran it 8hrs per day from April to September during those 10 yrs on a pontoon boat that was used on the grounds there. Guy wants $1500 for it but I am VERY concerned about the high hrs and it being wore out. I really do not want a headache and want something dependable. Anyone have experience with high hours on a Honda 50?

8hrs a day for 6 months a year for 10 years = 14,400 hours!

Hondas are tough long lasting engines. That being said test it out to make sure it has good compression.

Decided to bite the bullet and go with a new Yamaha 50 High thrust for the pontoon.
