![]() Me and a few other Salty Cajuns are heading to the Chandeleurs this weekend aboard the Jokas Wild. Can anyone give us a few pointers; what to expect, and what do we need to bring besides the usual wading gear and trout baits. We will have a few hard core taclke junkies among the trip, but you never know exactly what to bring until you go. I promise to take lots of pics and give a detailed report of the Islands, the fishing and the charter. I appreciate the input. |

Yea we fished around catch-em-all-bar and redfish point with our kayaks. We usually did better than the guys in the skiffs. (but they got to drink more beer than us!!!) It was just a little harder to get to far off spots... not that you need to! She dogs are also killer there. I would recommend swapping out a couple of topwater bait trebles for a few with live-bait singles (just add and extra split ring) to help keep all the floating turtle grass off your lures. Other good baits would be any bass type weedless lures like texas rigged plastics, Rag’tails ect. Lots of grass out there! (at least where all the fish are!)
I had a pretty decent stringer to finish off my double limit from the morning on topwater the last evening (cept the flounder). ![]() Last edited by Choupique; 09-14-2009 at 11:58 AM. Reason: photo |

Goodluck B-stealth!! Thats an awesome place out there and I love to go whether I catch a fish or not! If the bite slacks off, take the time to do some beachcombing....lots of cool sh**!! Oh and if your wading, make sure you got a "shark" stick for warpin them off your stringer.

Good info on the hook swap, I will do that tonight. (The less hooks flying at my hands while taking a fish off wading the better.) I just went home 4 lunch and pulled out the tackle bag and did an inventory. Do you think a drift sock and a push pole would be good 2 bring. I appreciate the tips. |

make sure right size.......2/0 on spook jrs and she dogs and 3/0 on super spooks. Can also leave middle hook off (optional) on super spooks.
I'm a huge advocate of single hooks over trebles......safer on fish and fishermen. |
