Cool Filled the ice chest on Friday at Pecan Island

Wasn't sure if I was going to go to the Duck Lake area or out of Pecan Island on Friday. Weatherman on Channels 10 and 3 said it would be less than 1 ft. seas so that made up my mind. Got into the Gulf and it was about 6 inch seas. Made it out to the first satellite.at about 8am and started catching on the 4th cast. Fished for about 1 1/2 hours and had 19 keeper specks. Moved to the next platform and started right up again. Seas had gotten almost flat by then, so it was easy fishing. Decided to try top waters. Got my bigger trout on a White/chartreuse head Zara Spook. Caught a few more and finished my limit. Best trip I've had in a long time.

Started fishing a near a platform this weekend. Was fishing carolina rig on bottom and jigs on bottom. Had a couple of bites when picking up my bait at the boat. Buddy starting throwing plastic and running it on the surface like a jerk bait and we started picking up some good specks. Even caught a few with jigs on popping corks.

Yeah, I caught them mostly on plastic first, then switched to Zara Spook to finish out my limit. Bigger trout on the Spook. Water was about 15ft. deep. Launched at Sosthene's landing at 7am and was back at the landing by 11am. Water was nice green but not too clear. I don't catch many when the water is really clear. It was VERY calm, about 6in. swells. Don't get too many days that calm.
