Default another Elmers Island report

Left Baton Rouge 1am saturday morning to get to GI at 4am took a nap until I could get some bait, then went to Elmer's Island and surf fished. didn't do to well in the morning the wind was bad, but stayed out there ended up with 15 specks 6 whites, and a spanish mackeral. Finished fishing about 3 and headed back to Baton Rouge! I'm interested in seeing how well all the other guy down there did. I'm pretty sure they all caught limits.

fished Timbalier island Sat morn ... the beach was lined with boats. Bet I didn't see 5 specs caught. It was infested with spanish mackerel, some sharks and a few big reds. Tried some other spots that had been solid producers over the past few weeks ... terrible. One spec here, one there, more spanish. Ended the trip freelining some poggies at the jetties, caught a few specs around 3lbs. Back at the dock, no one I talked to caught many specs. Success, just not as successful as we had been over the past month.

Got a buddy who has been struggling for the past few days around Grand Isle. He also mentioned wind and slow bite.

thats for the feedback on my report. MarshGrunt did you try fishing any of the rigs out there by the islands, they should be loaded up with trout too right now, I fished one last week and almost had a limit, everyone else at that one rig were catching limits of trout.

Was not a great weekend for trout . Talked to a few folks down on the island that caught a few but starting last thursday the trout bite got worse each day thru the weekend. The feed back i got was that the full moon had the trout feeding at night . Also the June spawn would have been Fri / Sat night .

A buddy went to Grand Isle with family this weekend. He said they caught 82 Saturday morning and 69 Sunday morning. I don't know any details yet.

Tim was the game warden at the entrance to elmers when you went in?
looked like he was stopping everyone going in?
Just wondering what he was checking people for out at the hwy?

Fished Elmer's Island Saturday. Started fishing at about 5am and fished hard with artificial, cocahoes, and croakers. Left around 10 with only 8 specks. Talked to some guys who were catching a few with live shrimp. Went fish the rocks near Sureway for about an hour and caught 2 flounder. Talked to someone else there who said there were some trout caught in the morning also on live shrimp.

My friend who caught said it was all on live shrimp. When they ran out of shrimp they tried to finish their limits on artificial but no dice. They caught at the jetties and in the bay.

the game warden was at the entrance, I think he was there to open the gates, but he didn't stop or bother me.

and I fished live shrimp out there and I really didn't catch too many fish before 12.

Just got bach from Grand Isle. Really tough fishing this weekend. Winds cranked up and the fish seemed to have lockjaw. Even the guides were having a rough time. Saw some snapper coming in and a few reports of some trout caught early in the morning. Weather was getting pretty bad when we left this morning. Elmer's has been closed off because Arnold Schwarzenegger is filming a movie there.
