Default Delcambre boy recovering after being hit by lightning in Gulf Shores

A 10-year-old Delcambre boy is in critical condition after he was struck by lightning on Gulf Shores beach Sunday morning. Family has identified him as Landon Broussard. According to Local 15 News in Alabama, Broussard is recovering at the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday night.
Lifeguards told the television station there were approximately 20 people on the beach when weather took a turn for the worse.
"As soon as the lightning bolt hit, everyone hit the ground and took off running," life guard Justin Pearce told Local 15. "Then we saw a person laying by the edge of the water."
A family member started CPR on the boy until lifeguards took over.
*The picture shown is of Landon and his parents at a baseball game.

Terrible, hope this youngman has a speedy recovery.

Was there a couple of weeks ago and a storm rolled in from the north...lightning struck the marsh on the north side of the highway and caught the marsh on fire. The wind was pushing 25-30 mph gusts and peoples tents, floaties, and chairs were scattered along the beach. Those doughnut type floaties where rolling down the beach and you could see floaties in gulf for a hundreds of yards. It moved in quick too thankfully we were in our condo getting ready for dinner.

Landon is starting to do much better but remains in a medically induced coma to assist his body with the recovery. Please continue sending prayers to the Broussard family as they need them dearly right now. He and his family live barely a mile down the road from me and are very good people, I have known them for a very long time.

Latest update from his sister:

Just getting back to the hospital, Landen is doing good they are trying to keep his body temp low right now but all his organs are doing good. Dr says he needs to rest for a few days then they will wake him up. They took his Brain monitor off and the nurse let him breath for and hour by on his own yesterday. He is being very strong. Keep the prayers coming.

Update from Landen's sister:

Update on Landen, at 11:30 last night he opened his eyes and the nurse ripped a piece of tape off his face and he reacted by pulling the other way. His breathing is improving and his body temp at 99.2 is on his own, nurse took off his cooling blanket. Nurse said he might not doing anything else for a while, he will move or wake up when he's ready.
