Default adding water to bait bucket

I just got some shiners and was hoping to use them today before the rain started but it got here early. So looks like maybe tomorrow or sunday. I have a little bit of water now but i wanna add some to it. Can i use well water?

Not if you have a water softener that uses salt as your softening agent. The salt will kill them!

I got an aerator on them and i got them inside just wanting to add a little water and possible.change it tomorrow if i dont use them

I've had good results keeping shiners and other bait fish for several days using an aeration and changing the water in the bucket once each day. I used well water without a water softener. In many systems there is a spigot to draw off water before it gets to the softener. Also, it is important to keep the buck in a cool, shady spot.

Rain water is the best wataer for that!

Seriously catch some rainwater if you can and use it, well water will be fine too if not much chlorine.
