Question seafood boil

We have boiled seafood in our home for many many years. Can anyone tell me why it is that now when we begin to boil the seafood, it makes the entire household cough. My home is well ventilated and I have a very nice stainless steal range hood. I have coughed so much that now my chest is hurting. I don't understand how it only began to this the last few times that we boiled in the house.
thanks

When the pepper in the seasoning boils it releases a vapor and is sometimes denser than air which is why it gets all over the house.

I can remember my Grandparents would do it quite often. They didn't have elaborate cookings like we do today.

I would only do it if I was boiling a couple of pounds of shrimp. Otherwise, it is outside.
