Default Waterfowl on the move

All morning so far here at aeroframe services the geese and ducks are on the move big time all headed north. I haven't seen this in a long time looks like a mass migration. What the hell is going on?

All this rain scatters birds. Ricefields that were dry, now have 6" of water and they're full of ducks. Rain re-shuffles the deck and I got dealt a bad hand.

Sheetwater is like crack for ducks, they can now get out of the marsh and go eat those vittles in the newly flooded fields

I know they're scattered, but this is unreal just came back from outside and seen at least 6 more good size flocks headed north.

Word! Kinda like when the season closes and people see their fields and ponds full of ducks and they say "I wish the season would be longer". But really they're just comin outta the reserves and impoundments because there's no more pressure.

X10!! I chuckle every time I hear someone say "the ducks are just getting here". By the middle of Feb. they are thinking about going back north. I wish they would have youth hunts in the reserves 2 times per week to move the birds around.

Then they would probably leave altogether. An avid waterfowler and guide said yesterday on another forum, "The refuges help save us from ourselves". Maybe the last weekend of the splits would be good.

It's not just that. You can't leave flooded timber flooded or you will kill the trees. Soon as duck season is over a lot of the clubs cut the water off their property. Well THEN the ducks show up in Fontenot's field and he thinks dey just getting here when the season is over. When in reality, "you are just reshuffling the deck."
