Default Prien Lake Area 2-8-13

During the fall and winter, I spending most of my time in woods deer hunting and today was my first fishing trip in a of couple months. It was after 10 AM before I left the houses.

Wind was blowing some this morning, so I decided to go to the Prien Lake area today. Water was moving out a little when I put in and it only had a few inches visibility.

I fished the banks looking for redfish. After changing baits a couple of times, I caught a nice red using a gold bladed spinner with a grape/chart sand eel.

By 12:30 PM the tide started coming in fairly good and I caught a few more Reds. It was cloudy and windy most of the afternoon and I only saw one other boat out fishing. At 4:30 PM I was heading back to the landing with a limit of nice Red's and bass that must have been lost. The Bass was full of eggs.

When I got near the 2-10 bridge I saw this same boat over near the bank. When the 2 guys started waving I slowed down to see what the problem was. There battery was weak and they could not get the engine started.

Thankfully it was only a mile or so to tow them back to the Prien park boat launch. I was happy to be able to help because they had been calling friends, but had not been able to find anybody that could come right away.

For supper we had Redfish on the half shell. You can’t get fish any fresher than this.

Nice catch Gerald. Those reds will grill up real nice! I was on the water yesterday and only managed a couple keeper reds and a flounder. Just moved to LC (right on contraband bayou) and looking forward to fishing the Prien area on a regular basis. I am a 5 minute (no wake) boat ride to the mouth of the bayou and its going to be hard to pass on the fishing up north with such an easy outlet.

Good job Gerald.

You hang up the bow? Going to try and make one more trip probably to Thistlewaite.
