garmin units are generally the easiest to operate. How much are you looking to spend?

I don't mind spending six to seven hundred for a unit that will help me learn the lake. Especially if I can keep track of it with some sort of map.

Larry, did Chris tell you to go by Lake Area Marine and look at the Frontier 2104. I think its in your price range.
Good boat and good people. Ask for Kyle if you make it by there. |

Actually I found a champion this last weekend. We are gonna take it for a spin Friday and if all is well I'll be bringing it back with me. BTY who handles Garmni in this area?

I'm curious as to why everyone is recommending the garmins? I'm no expert on fishfinders but have loved my lowrance/eagle 502c combo that i bought five or six years ago. It seems like for the price range you are looking at that you could pick up a lowrance elite-7 series which includes both the gps and fishfinder tools your looking for and also included down imaging. If there's something about garmins that i don't know about please gimme a heads up.

The Garmin units have a very small learning curve. I have a humminbird and an Lowrance HDS 5. I prefer the HDS 5 but for straight up ease of use out of the box, the Garmin units win.

Lowrance Hds with Standard E card. For one thing the new Lowrance sounders are superior and the Standard E card maps have the best detail around.
