Transom savers vs lock and stow

I've been told that the transom saver don't hold up long with big motors. bc the distance from the trailer to the lower unit. Is this true. Does anyone use the lock n stow type things that you place on/under the power trim. Which one you find works?

Never had a issue with transom savers on big motors just make sure they are solid aluminum,no plastic. I don't care for the ones that go on the trim....I saw one crack the clamp brackets that mount to the transom before.

I've used the transom saver on several different outboards, the larger ones were 150, 200, and 250. Never had any issues. I rather the transom saver due to it taking the majority of the stress of of the transom.

I had 2 transom savers break on my boat. Both on hwy 90

One like this? Then again anything can break on hwy 90,hate pulling a boat on that road.

I have had to replace the head on this 2 times because the rubber/silicone wear down and start eating into the lower unit. They were the blue ones.

I cut a piece of trailer bunk carpet and put inside of the rubber pads,works for me.

You can buy new rubber to put on them without having to buy the whole head.

I've been using a lock n stow on a 225 Opti since I bought the boat in Aug 05. The original owner used it for the 3 years he had the boat. I've never had any issues and I've made beau coux trips to toledo bend. The only problem I did have was when I brought it in for maintainence and the repain shop didn't install it correctly and I started to drive off. Luckily I checked and found it not correct.

You driving to fast...lol My dad has had countless boats most being bass boats with 250's and never broke one.

I have lock and stow. Transom saver ruin the brass bushing in the yoke of your mid leg

Could be, but you get that heavy triton bouncing down hwy 90 and anything is possible

Yeah you right that road will destroy any weak links. I broke a leaf spring one time had to hold it up with rachet straps and limp back home.

I have a broke transome saver. The cast aluminum end broke.
Bought another one. I like them.

Yamaha factory rubber tube transom saver over trim , change 4 years ago works great.

lock and stow takes zero weight off the transom. it takes the weight off of the trim assembly and thats it. transom savers take the shock of the lower unit bouncing up and down the road and put it on the trailer.

What about the motor sticks? Is that bad on a transom??
