Default Grand Isle Bridge 3/24

I hit GI with the family on Sun 3/24. My son Joshua and I hit the bridge fishing and my wife and two other children hit the beach at about 2:00 PM. The water was hardly moving at all, but two bull redfish and a bull black drum hit the deck within a few minutes of our arrival (other anglers). One was caught on mullet the other two on crawfish!

Then the fishing went quiet for a while until my son hooked up with a monster black drum on a shrimp. He got wrapped around the pilings, but high enough there were no barnacles, and a kayacker in the area was willing to come over and unwrap him. We ended up with four drum total by days end, two bulls, two 24-27". An angler down a bit from us had another redfish jump off, and we also had a huge, strong run from what felt like a big bull red on crab before losing him in the pilings. And the word on the bridge was that Sunday was much slower fishing than Fri or Sat.

It was our first time fishing the bridge and a good time was had. I probably want something bit stouter than 30 lb power pro cause it seems like it will be common to horse fish away from structure.

A funny tidbit: I was cleaning fish at the marina and a kid came along and casted a shrimp off the cleaning dock into the water. He turned around to goof off a bit and a fish pulled his rod into the water before he could grab it.

Yes, I recall the earlier discussions. Everyone is saying that the bridge is outfishing the beach. The north wind is pushing some water out, and the wind has the bay really muddy, so it will be muddy water you are fishing in. Nothing works better than crab in turbid water.
