Default Slat Traps

Found a guy selling cypress, poplar, and oak slat traps. Gonna pick up a few to set with the kids. Any of you guys ever fish with these, if so any tips or trick to catch more? I'm curious to see them in action.

Hey talk to Bobby at the store..I think he usually sets some around the house, or at least knows somebody around the house that does.

we used to fish them years ago in the amite river.
you'll probably have to weight them down with a couple of bricks until they get a good water soaking. baited them with cotton seed cake or stinky cheese.
usually caught pretty good this time of year after a heavy rain.

I'm gonna stopat gulfway on my way back from ICY. I just feel like I am robbing the place when I am in there with the way the employees follow you through the store. The owners are a little ate up with the dumb azz.
