![]() If one that could do that for a home is only a "stand by generator" I might just get one that's big enough for my camper and go that route. any advice? |

Wattage is the voltage x the amperage of whatever you are trying to run. I have a 5500 watt that powers my frig, freezer, fans in the house, and my camper for A/C. I also have a 4000 watt that I use when I just need to power the camper. 30 amp service x 120 volts = 3600 watts.

They sell a really nice one at SAMs. Is like 8500 or so with a Honda engine. Cranks up every time and powers up a lot. It's about 1000 bucks but I love mine.

we run our marsh camp with one of these. got 1500 hrs on it in a yr and a half. no problems. runs 2 window units and all the lights no problem. it runs through 6 gallons of gas every 12 hrs or so in the summer and maybe 14-15 hrs in the winter.

I have an older one an it has a plastic gas tank. The newer ones have a bright red metal one which I don't like cause we all know it will rust out one day but the new one also has electric start so that's nice but like I said for the money you can't go wrong with that one from SAMs.
