Default Hwy 35 south of Kaplan

can anyone verify that Hwy 35 south of Kaplan is closed about 2-3 miles south of Gulfway? If so, any tips on getting around it to get to Hwy 82 and Rockefeller? Thanks!

I went out to Rollover this past Saturday and it was closed. Came from Lafayette and went through Abbeville and got on Hwy 82 and stayed on it. You'll see the road closed signs when you take a left in forked island right by maw and paws. Good luck!

Coming from Abbeville go through Kaplan. Take a left on Romaine rd it will turn in to pecan rd. then when you get to 335 take a left. You can also take a left on 695 before Kaplan and get to 335. Take a right. You will come out by Suires. I heard that is past the construction.

thanks everyone! That give me a few options to re-route my trip this weekend. Why does the state wait until the middle of hurricane season to start crap like this? I'm sure they been knowin about condition of bridges for quite some time! Let me not get started. Anyway, much appreciated info!

If you still want to stop buying something to load up suppliers and gas on your boat from Gulfway Sporting Goods Store in Kaplan where the bridge out is only 2 miles south of Gulway, you need to follow with instructions on new routes to get from Gulfway store to the other side of La. 35, near Suire’s Grocery. (corner of HWY 35 and HWY 335) to go down Alton Road to the stop sign and take a left on Pecan Road. and then a left on La. 335, which will take back to La. 35 on the other side of the bridge.

There are few options to re-route to Forked Island on way to Pecan Island or Freshwater City or Rockefeller or Cameron Parish whatever you want to go.

That's the route I took today. Only a few minutes way. Caught 5 dozen nice crabs for me, wife, and a few friends. Caught at Joseph's harbor
