Default Gnats

Beware of the Gnats. Fishing has been good. Log on to "Between the Banks" website. Bob pretty much fishes the area exclusively and is always helpful. He even suggest you call him with questions. I generally fish Grand Isle, but late winter/early spring, I fish the marshes north of GI and the area around Leeville. Reds are plenty and trout are scattered.

What may look like open water, or even a canal, might be only six inches deep, and impossible to stand in to get yourself out if stuck. Bring TWO push poles and watch your depth finder.

Trout starting to show up good around grand isle. Reds have been thick in Leeville Marsh around lake Jesse. Saw birds picking out in lake Jesse 3 days in a row now.

Boggycreek
I have been trying to get down there as well and was looking at maybe heading that way the same weekend. We might be able to spread out and help each other find the fish. Will let you know, it is either leeville or GI not sure depends on what the wife wants to do.

There are two main boat landings in Leeville. Bobby Lynn's and Boudreaux's. If you want to fish the East side Bobby's Lynn's is the easiest if you want to fish the west side Boudreaux's is the easiest. I like Boudreaux's because it's closer to Terry's bait and I prefer the West side. This time of the year I'd recommend you fish out into Little Lake and across into Bay Raccoui if the weather allows. In the bay follow along the bank and fish the cuts and grass for reds. You'll also run into speck's. If you get windy conditions then go fish the marsh on the west side or the area across from the Chevron Heliport. Good Luck.

Agree with this statement. Was on GI this weekend, but fished the Leeville area. My little girl (14) and I smacked them this weekend, fishing islands.

I was impressed with the size of the trout. I will not mentioned the size becasue you BL fellows will just laugh, but for Leeville ( and for me), we did have some nice trout.

The trout bite is good. Vudu shrimp under a cork. Try tandem 2 inch Vudus. My brother boated 60 fishing the 4 bayou islands. Vudu out fished live shrimp that day. All good sized. One keeper to 2 boated. Decent keep ratio.

Also heard some big heads being caught along the beach between Fourchon and the barges.
