Spent the weekend with a group of old friends. Launched near Kaplan and took an epic 1 hour 40 minute journey to Lake Arthur via Bayou Tortue to the Mermantau. Had several beers and a nice meal at Regatta restaurant. The ride was beautiful, birds, alligators and solitude. Crossed only one boat the entire time. Used about 14.99 gallons of gas out of a 15 gal tank. Really nice 17.5 ft Lowe with a Merc 60 4 stroke

I bet that was a long winding ride. How did the water look?

The Bayou was pretty muddy but kept getting better as we got closer to the Mermantau
