Default Birds in boathouse

My boat has been getting shat on for most of the summer by a bunch of purple martins that roost nearby. They like to sit on my antennas and the cables above for the boat lift. I've seen the owl decoys in several other slips but am not sure how effective they are...any one use these? Any other suggestions (other than a lead projectile) would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah Dave I was always a little skeptical of those decoys. May be my only option though. Would love to bust out the pellet gun but don't think the neighbors would appreciate it. It's gotten pretty ridiculous the last few trips...spend more time cleaning the boat before it even leaves the slip.

I have noticed that most beach condos have clear lines strung over the pool areas. I think they do it to keep the seagulls away. May not hurt to try stringing up some mono.

Take away their food source. Spray your dock with premetherin to kill all the bugs and spiders.

String Monofilimant so they don't like to fly around in there.

I saw a snake hanging out of a Martin house. Those birds didn't come back for years.

Move the owl around every trip. If it moves around in the wind it helps to.

I think that's the direction i'm heading...been pricing several on line. Lank, how has the tuna bite been out there at Garden Banks? I've heard mixed reports on YF. Seems like the bite has been better in Green Canyon.

A lot of boats this past weekend fishing the Texas shoot out. Saw them catching some tuna while trolling but it has been slow. Not much surface activity at night or during the day.

This sounds like a good idea. Just go get a bunch of fake toy snakes and put them all around. Change their position every now and then.

i hang those used car lot flags around the underside of the eve and across the middle near the cable axis pole. i have to redo it every other year or so, but it works. the breeze keeps em flapping most of the time. sometimes the little sparrows get in anyway, but they don't poop very big.
the flags are cheap, just google flags and banners.

tell you what I saw and it is pure Boudreaux engineering but it did work.

guy took one of those motion sensors and connected it to a horn and when the birds flew in the horn ran em out.

that and he chicken wired all the openings everywhere he could.

before he discovered this little "trick" he tried hanging a rope across the shed and a tarp to make an umbrella over the boat but it didn't last long before it had so much poop it sagged and started dropping patties of poop in the boat

he got the idea of the horn from watching crawfish guys on tv with cannons to chase the birds off and figured he could do that to so he figured out a way with a motion sensor pointed up into the rafters so it doesn't go off when you move around, 12 volt transformer, and car horn mounted up high where the birds nest

I suppose you could use a sprinkler system instead of a horn if the noise would bring complaints

We went to a Waterpark Friday and they had monfilament strung out over head to keep the birds away.
