![]() I want to get a 10' for him, but he is concerned the 10' is too big and will stick up too much in shallow water. We typically fish in 2-6' inshore along intracoastal and lake Borgne out of Seabrook Marina. We occasionally fish deeper, but not often. Would the 10' Blade be in the way a lot fishing in 3' of water? Does the size look ridiculous? I have only seen 8'. He does not have a jack plate. |

I love my 10', wouldn't go any shorter for 6'-8' water. No worries in shallow water, in 3' it would sit close to horizontal.
My birthday is in April, if love to have a second 10' on the back of my boat if you're throwing money around! |

How high do they sit out of the water if your fishing in 3' or less?

depends on how much less and what kind of bottom it is. around 3 feet they will be sticking straight out about water level maybe a little higher if the bottom is hard

We fish no less than 2' with a soft bottom. Marsh around the inter coastal and Lake Borgne. Typically in 3-5'.

Really depends what your spiking on, if it's mud then you can get it pretty close to horizontal. If it's shallow enough for the pole to be sticking up where it's in the way, your boat will be sitting on bottom.

Ok got it. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. My gut said go 10' that it will be like a TV, you'll always realize you could have gone bigger. I just haven't seen anyone with 10's and my dad was concerned about how much they'd stick up. Everyone around us has the 8's.

Ive been in some shallow duck ponds with the 10 and never had an issue with it standing too high even in 16" of water.

I bought an 8 footer for my BlackJack about a month ago thinking it would be sufficient for my needs. Like you, I was worried that a 10 footer would stick up too high and give me problems getting into and out of my garage. Put it this way, I was on the phone ordering a 10 footer while I was still on the boat trying out my 8 footer for the first time. The 10 footer has that extra reach and extra holding power that I need. I'm much more satisfied with the 10 footer

Didn't take a loss at all actually. I only paid the $100 difference for the price of the bigger pole. I fell into a perfect deal with a guy who needed an 8 footer pronto.
