You can call or email McClain trailers out of Houston, Tx for a quote. they sell aluminum and galvanized trailers at a reasonable price.

I bought a single axle boat trailer from Jerry's Marine last Nov/Dec for around $1500. It is pretty stout and galvanized, rated for boats up to 2000 lbs or so.
Whether you need brakes depends on the weight of the boat and the capacity of the tow vehicle. If you are only pulling 1/3 the weight of the towing capacity, I don't think you really need brakes if most of your towing is on flat roads. I have not checked LA law on this though. I also doubt I would spend the money for a "saltwater package" for a replacement trailer for an older boat. This seems like an attempt at upselling to me. Will any trailer last 20 years in LA without careful rinsing after each salt water use? Since a careful rinsing is needed anyway, what is the real advantage of the "saltwater package"? We take 20-30 minutes after each saltwater use to rinse the boat and trailer. Usually two people work on the boat and trailer while one person works on rinsing the rods and reels. |

I said at a reasonable price because every where I called was about the same and McClain was the closest to me. They not cheap that's why I never did buy one. lol. but it sounds like you got a quote on a tandem axle custom fit trailer. if you can get away with a single axle they make an adjustable trailer for much cheaper.

I assume youve already called Jerrys and Lake Area Marine? Try Bowtie Marina too I know they do trailer repairs, they may be able to line you up with a new or used one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll give all the marine dealerships a call. From what I could find the boat weighs in around 1500 lbs and with full tanks and engine we are looking at around 2300-2500 lbs.
I'm sure a single would work. The boat literally is 1 mile from Calcasieu point we just need a way to trailer it. Tow vehicle is a 07 tahoe |

I would strongly suggest you consider getting at least a 3000 lbs trailer for that. having more then you need is not a problem but not quit having enough can be a problem when stuff happens |

remember, if you go too heavy on the trailer it wont have the needed give on the suspension to cushion the ride but you do want extra for insurance if you are ever overloaded from normal |
