![]() Caleb Genin was a passenger in a boat in Bayou Courtableau near Port Barre in St. Landry Parish when he sustained a severe head injury after hitting his head on a low bridge around 6 p.m. David W. Huckaby, 23, of Opelousas was the operator of the boat. Genin was pronounced dead upon arrival at Opelousas General Hospital. LDWF agents believe that alcohol use was involved and have blood tests pending. LDWF agents have made no arrests or issued any citations at this time. |

That was my brother's ex wife's neices husband. He was home on leave from the Marine Corps. He had just gotten married not too long ago. The story told to me was they were skiing somewhere and the operator of the boat decided to go under a bridge that was too low. Caleb saw that the bridge was too low and threw his wife to the bottom of the boat. Unfortunately he didn't get down in time. She feels like it is her fault and is having a very hard time with this.

i heard about that the day it happened.. sad sad story. For the 100000th time people need to pay attention when driving boats. This is something that could have been EASILY prevented if the driver was paying attention the his surrounding and passengers on board. When i'm in my boat, i don't get on step unless everyone is sitting and ready. I'm not saying the driver needs to be arrested or anything, he just needs to learn how to pay attention and i'm sure now he knows. |
