Default Grand Isle & West Wind

Taking the wife and kids down there Friday-Sunday. Coastal Marine report for that region is predicting the wind to die down by Friday, only 5-10k, however, it's reporting a west wind.

I used to fish Grand Isle a whole lot in jr. high and high school. Caught lots of limits, even just fishing off the pier at night under a light.

But I always remember the old-timers and residents saying a west wind was absolute horrible for fishing in GI.

Is there a particular reason a west wind makes for poor fishing conditions in GI, even if it's a calm wind (5-10mph)?

There looks to be good tide movement for this weekend, so seeing the wind direction and remembering what the veterans down there used to tell me has me kind of bummed.

Thanks.
