Default Crabs & some shrimp

Took son visiting on vacation to the Rock.

Went out of JH this morning, hit the water about 6:15am.

Back to the dock with about 7-8 dozen nice sized crab and about 8 or so lbs of shrimp.

Tide was not moving real well when we got there. Shrimp were running decent at first but every cast ended with less and less shrimp.

Crabs were steady whole time... Almost all females as the water is very salty right now. But they eat just fine.

Oh and watched a guy catch a huge redfish from the bank.. took him darn near 20 minutes to get it to the bank.

Ended up weighing 48lbs.

Biggest red i have ever seen.

Hope the guy registered it because it would be in the top 10 for La.

Not sure if he knew it or not. he weighed it on one of the little scales that they use to weigh the shrimp they are catching.

My son took a picture of it.. will post it in a few.

Here's a couple pics that the kid took of the fish. I netted it for him, was a pig of a fish.

I'd say that scale is off. Nice red but I don't think it would go 48.

No way that's 48 lbs. I caught a 30 lb one a few years ago that looked about that size.

Just to point out a couple things.. the fisherman is not holding the fish out... and he was a big dude.. i would guess 6'2 -6'4...

I didn't see the scale, and have no way of knowing if it was on or not, but i do know that I have personally caught plenty of 40+ pound fish (Blue Cats out of the potomac) and size wise this fish was in the ballpark.
