Catdaddy, I've fished it a few times. Usually a couple days at a time. Have noticed after the 1st of spring when It really starts getting pounded i've had to drop down to 8lb line & small baits, have done ok on zoom finesse & 4" fry's w/ as small as a 1/16 slip sinker in a Junebug or pumkin seed. They get real picky after the pressure starts.

Ill give it a shot... I tried speed craws and the 4'finess, shakey heads, small rattle traps, mini heydons, pop-r's, i havent tried the line drop tho... Its hard for me to do the line drop, I always got that "what if i hook the big one" thought in my mind.. |

I know what you mean about the line drop. But 8lb test is alot tougher than you think! Well I say it is, just depends on what you're fishing, cheap inexpensive bait it's tough as hell, expensive or hard to come by bait it's like sewing thread!

Try fishing the trees along the boat lane in the deeper water....If that dosen't work get, fish north of the north landing. Fish the cypress trees in the middle of the lake....The fish will be VERY tight to the trees. I bring 2 baits with me when I go.....1/4oz black and blue jig and june bug baby brush hog........the brush is best for me

Tried em... Some guys there suggested that also. I tried em weightless and with weighted hookes. Wacky was the trick (still not much of one tho), and like Mallardfish said... They were super tight in the trees. I talked with one of the locals that fish the dogfights and he said that they had a tournament the day before i got there and out of 40 boats only like 5 or 6 weighed in fish.. |

That was a small one.... I was fishing the trees and came up on one of these on accident... I didnt intend on getting that close on purpose. I was closer.. I heard them before i seen them. My skin started crawling, I was trying to roll the knob on my trolling motor with my foot because i didnt want to bend down and move to much. I managed to get it in level 3 and back out, I figured while i was there might as well get a picture, my phone dont have zoom either. I took that while retreating and praying the "Our Father" |

Cat,
Your freshwater trip and many many of mine just like yours are why I think it's so much better to fish saltwater in the summer. Now early spring the freshwater fishing can be awesome. |

evolution jig is definitely true! Catdaddy i usually fish that place VERY often, but this year all my spots were over grown with grass so i haven't fished it that much. Last year though we did good with ribbits on the duckweed, but that was in May of last year. Every April and May though; the topwater action is unbelieveable. You can catch consistent 5lb bass in there. I caught an 8lb two years ago on a chugbug and since then I have missed many MANY bigger fish on the same bait all at the same time of the year. You just have to time it right. The picture I have is of the 8lber caught there.
