Default Need some help!

Me and a buddy were hoping to try out kayak fishing this weekend if we can find a place to go. We are in Mandeville, LA... Just north of New Orleans.

We are both new to this as we predominately bass fish in local ponds so we have no clue of anywhere we could go.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not asking for any honey holes or anything, just certain bodies of water or areas we go try out. We are willing to drive a bit if necessary as well.

Thanks for any help!

If you don't already have kayaks.... Bobby Lynn's down in Leeville rents kayaks and there is good fishing around the marshes there. Anywhere down Hwy 1 also for quick easy trip. Good Luck!

This is what I was going to suggest. Drive down to Leeville and fish the Marsh on the right hand side as you driving down to Grand Isle. Whatever rods you use to fish bass with a worm should be fine for redfish. Baby Minus, Gold Spoons, Black and Charteuse Cocahoe Minnow with a spinner all work well for reds in that area.

Kayak rentals also available at bayou Jims place . Right across La1 from the entrance to Elmers island.

Thanks for the help guys. I have two recreational kayaks we could use but depending on the price, renting one might be better. Gonna have to check the weather and figure out my plans for the weekend!
