You got me watching it now...I don't own a Remington rifle though.
I have Browning and Savage, and I must say that cheap Savage shoots a tighter group than my Browning. |

Been shooting 700's for 15 years not one single issue..and on the other hand if that Versa Max can hold up in the rain and mud of duck hunting its gonna be right up there with the best of them..I got to shoot one last month at a friends gun shop..very sweet gun, pretty much resembles the xtrema 2 and about the same price..

I have a Remington 700 that I bought used about 30 years ago. Great gun.
I also have an 1100 that is about the same age. It is not that good of a gun in my opinion, it will jam now and then and the lil thingy that catches the shot shell to eject it comes off now and then and it is too small to find. I hunted a Winchester pump gun forever, then when I broke and couldn't be fixed, I bought a Remington 870 Express when they first came out. Pretty reliable gun, but I wasn't as comfortable with it as I was with the Winchester. Guess once you shoot one gun for so long, it is hard to change. But my 700 rifle is a great gun. Never had any issues with accidents like posted above. |

1187 and 887s are junk, good boat paddles, however

don't get me wrong I shot an 1187 up until three years ago...finally the ejector broke and it needs to be re blued. I put it through hell and back and she never failed me...except low brass...never liked it! I looked into the new 1187...researched and checked them out...just seems liked they lost the edge.

The Remmington 700 is totally fine to use. It is what I use in a 7mm-08. The military uses them as sniper rifles. Besides the recall on that was any rifle before I think it was 1985. Besides, any of the stories where the gun discharges on its own. Typically someone has jacked with the trigger. There is nothing wrong with that rifle.

most people don't clean the rifle and every now and then a primer falls out or scrap metal from brass will get jammed somewhere and cause a mechanical problems and the safety has been changed on the rem 700 . it is now a safer gun, but this was a legit problem,

you are correct!I belive, the 270, and some of the 308's were ones with the most miss fires, and i'm not positive, but I think it was a 2-3 year period in the early 80's when they had a bad batch. acctually a good budy of mine has one that went off in our gun room at the camp about 5 yrs ago. early 80's model 700/ 270cal. "BOOM" when the saftey went off. NOT cool, the gun has been in his safe ever since.

our gun room is where we site in our rifles. sliding windows, barbers chairs, ledsleds, spotting scope, air cond./ heated room for gun's, gunsmithing, reloading, shooting! not the camp house! But yes, no loaded rifles in the camp house!
