Saw a post last week during the cold about folks fishing there, Think it's $10 a head.
I do know the colder the better just like shell beach. You could call myrtle grove marina ? |

Honestly I thought they closed down the bank fishing years ago. It used to be awesome for trout as well.

They sold a lot of the land down at the dead end and across from the marina, All private camps now. But there is still the wall by the marina where you can pay to fish.

I think it was back in 2000 my buddy had a canoe he used to fish behind the levee in Port Sulphur. We took it to Myrtle Grove the day after the first real cold snap - among a dozen boats of all description - and pretty much caught trout until we just didn't want to catch anymore. He was using a fly rod with sinking line and I was using a jig. He was really talented with the fly rod and caught on to the program pretty quick after I got up on him about 7 to zero. Good times!
People were lined up on both sides of the bank, mostly catching but not near as much as those in boats. Of course some on the banks were catching more than some in boats. It's the same in the deep trout spots in the marsh. Some people have a knack for feeling the bite and some just don't. |

I am from Montana and have been a fly fisherman most of my life...I think it would be fun to catch redfish and specks on the flyrod.

It is. I don't do it much, but if you've got a pile of specks close to the boat, you can make quick work of a limit with a clouser minnow. And presenting a fly to a cruising redfish is very cool as well.
