Default fourchon 9-4-10

hit fourchon yesterday . started out fishing the rock bardges on the beach . started off throwin topwater at the points of the rockbardges had about a 25 lb red come out the water (like that mirrolure commercial) chasin the plug it was pretty cool i stuck him and it broke me off. next 10 or so cases resulted in 10 blow ups and about 5-7 fish landed nothing over 3# . the water wasnt as nice as like it to be and there wasnt to much bait . around 9 the wind started to pick up so i ran out the back way to the bay on the way out saw a bunch of shrimp all nervous poppin on the surface in the marsh dropped the power pole and it was every cast for about 45 min. had a few 14-16" specks but most almost had to be stepped on to make 12" .it was weird to be catching these numbers of fish in the marsh this soon in the year but ive heard from a few other people in other areas that say they have been seing the same thing. ive never caught theses #'s of small fish as i have this year must have been a strong spawn last year we just need these lil minn doggys to grown some shoulders on em! water in the marsh was high and dirty but falling fast as hell. called it a day around 11am . kept a handful for dinner and released the rest because i didnt feel like cleaning fish . btw if you are runnin belle pass the last 3/4 - 1 mile of it is a no wake zone because crews are cleaning boom and removing absorbant boom. if you are throwing a wake you will be stopped and warned , also wl&f are out in full force make sure you have all req. stuff i got boarded and my fire ext. was not fully charged .....luckliy they gave me a warning .

Default Trout in the marsh

I'm seeing the same thing over on my side in Lafitte. We're catching trout now where we should be in Oct/Nov. Everything is small too, 12-14". The marsh around Barataria Bay is full of pogies. Hopefully, these little runts will grow quick with all this bait to eat.

yeah this summer as a whole has kinda licked knob as far as great trips. ive had some good trips but this spill crap cramped my style and forced me to fish hopedale along with everybody and their brother, breton sound produce some decent fish for me but nothing over 5- 6lbs . and the islands out in the sound everytine i went i got ran off by wl&f , i believe this fall/winter will be good once most start hunting and the pressure on these fish lightens up.

Yup. I'm waiting on things to cool down and the trout to get back on the big bridge in Lake P. I have to play catch up on those trout since I missed all of May/June!

i just cant get excited about that trolling stuff. Ive watched those guys with their heavy rods big reels and wire line and sure they pull up big trout but there is no fight. They pull in a 5lb trout like it is a 12" dink just doesnt appeal to me

Trolling is like OSU being in the NC game. You are there but your not doing anything to win lol.

We used to troll for what you guys call I think white bass back home. They were sand bass to us. I always thought it was pretty cool stuff. About the same as catchin in a hard tide, IMO.

Got checked in Leeville too. Neighbor got checked twice. They were out in force for sure. Between that, the oil clean up workers and the dang dolphins I had to work for my fish this weekend. Made another post for that.
