If you haven't read "Bad Bet on the Bayou" yet, I suggest you do so, by far one of the best books I've read. My grandpa had a few of some old Vermilion Parish politicians over for a BBQ a few weeks back and they were all talking about their times with Edwards. It was really cool hearing stories of different things people would do for him.

I flipped through a copy my buds mom bought and it was very interesting to say the least. The current crew in Washington make E/E look like a choir boy. Edwin was a Populist in the same vain as The Kingfish, no more, no less. I never cared for him but don't see the need for him to spend the rest of his life in jail either. Might hit the Libary today and check it out, will give a book report when I am finished.

I don't like the man......but he is OK on a personal level. I got to talk with him some one time.

I cooked a few sacks of crawfish for the Condominium complex where his 2 daughters [and my parents] lived. He showed up to eat and we sat at the same table. I think he was a Senator back then. The older daughter was there, but Vickie did not come......wish she would have been there. Vickie was know as a party girl around town.

I bought the book...It is a great read, I encourage everyone to take the time to read his biography. Whether you like him or not his biography is full of history and great stories.

Buy the book Bruce, you won't regret it....I would love to get Edwin to sign it for me but he is not authorized to sign the book until his release in 2011.

The author writes about how Edwards told him to tell the truth in this book and not slant the facts... Edwin talks about his arrogance is what really made the feds come after him and he speaks of shaking down the people for river boat license's and how he did it. He also talks about the shady character's that he let get next to him in his political days....

Just read the book...
