So here?s a social studies lesson for those of you who want to call me an ?idiot? for shooting a white bird. Louisiana is called ?A Sportman?s Paradise.? It is known for its game. (FYI, since you obviously aren?t hunters, a sportsman is a person who hunts and game are animals-deer and birds. You want to stop hunting? Fine. Write a letter to the Senator and be the person who single-handedly destroyed what our state is known for. Hunting is not just about killing an animal. Get over yourselves and get off of your high horses. Any hunter in my position would have shot that bird. It?s a treasure and hunting is a way of life that you obviously know nothing about. Take a lesson. The person who commented that this bird is ?only a rare sighting? and not a ?rare find,? well, look at all the attention it got- for your information, KATC called ME-it?s obviously a pretty big deal, because like I said, this is a sportsman?s paradise and those sportsmen appreciate something like this. For the person who called me an ?idiot,? I have a Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering. You?re not just calling me an idiot, you?re calling every hunter around here an idiot, a group of great people in which you have no business messing with. For you who commented that I should have only taken a picture of the bird instead of killing it, imagine yourself being on the front page of the paper and being the talk of the town for something so memorable. Men who have hunted their whole lives say they have never seen anything like this and they appreciate the attention being brought to it. For you animal lovers who think animals shouldn?t be killed, quit being hypocrites. Any meat you eat came from an animal that was KILLED. And here?s a science lesson, if you?re a vegetarian, I?m willing to bet you have to take supplements that came from ANIMALS since your body can?t survive on grass alone. For the person who said he hopes I never have kids? I can?t wait to share the excitement and joy of hunting with my children. I can?t wait to share with them what generation after generation of hunters have shared with their children. In case you haven?t read it on the back of someone?s bumper yet, ?Kids who hunt and fish don?t steal and deal.?
Hunting is not just about the killing of an animal. It?s a way of life for most people around here and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Those of you who understand, thanks for the support, and for those of you who have NOTHING BETTER TO DO than to sit on the computer and talk trash about a person you don?t even know, get a hobby and find something better to do with your time-try hunting! If you don?t like what I?m saying then move to another state because you?re in Louisiana and it?s a sportsman?s way of life around here. And if you don?t even live in this state, then just mind your own business.
For my hunting friends out there, I hope you have a great, fun-filled, memorable, successful season.
