Took the wife out for her first Saltwater kayak fishing trip. She did well bass fishing in the basin and was ready for the trout and reds. Did not get on the water until 9:30 am. Stayed close to the launch and she fished a spoon on a light spinning rig. She got a few in the cooler and lost a bunch hanging them in the air until I got there to unhook them. Great trip, home in time to fry fish and watch the LSU game.

Looks like a good trip. I enjoy the yak pictures, never realized how many people are in to this type of fishing.

Thanks for all the good reply's.
The spoon is made by Wahoo called a Redfish Key 1/4oz gold with a bucktail chartreuse/red. Academy has them and somehow they work great in Calcasieu but had not much luck anywhere else with them. Must be the clarity of the water.
Last weekend I was on a good trout bite in V-Bay on plastics and started throwing the spoon and could only get one trout to hit it. Good bait for a novice fisherman to use in Calcasieu because all you do is cast out and retrieve steady, the treble hook usually snags whatever hits it.
