Default Anyone know where I can get some piglets?

I'm looking to get a piglet to fatten up and slice and dice. Anyone know of anyone other than the sale barn selling them in the southwest region of the boot that we live in?

Do you want feral (wild) piglets or domestic? I have my trap set right now and this was the last time I set it (11) all in one shot!

How about sharing your plans for a hog trap with us? Could you get a picture of the door?

Well, I am not bragging, but we catch alot of hogs, and most of the time it is done on peoples land that ask us for help. Either farmers, or hunting leases, we don't get them all, but we put a hurting on them and usually make them move out, or harrass them long enough they just slowly dwindle down to numbers that are managable. My crew consist of me (HSSE Manager in the oilfield), a LT. in the LDWF, a biologist from the USFW, and a good ole' plant operator. We all have dogs, of different breeds and work well together. We have some landowners that want everyone dead, we have some that want us to leave the boars after we castrate them, we have some that just want them moved to another place. It all depends on what you want done. We also have traps that we can set up for long term projects. Be glad to give you a hand with them, it's our hobby. Send me an email at bryan.foti@teammcllc.com and make sure to give me your contact number. I can assure you, we are not some bunch of kids with wild a$$ attitudes that come in and make a mess of the place. If it is wet, we stay off the roads and use ATV's w/ small trailers. Our dogs will not run deer, and we utilize two different tracking systems to keep a handle on the dogs (GPS & radio transmitter). The only thing that keeps us from using the dogs is when a landowner has a parcel that is too small and the neighboring property is not cooperating. We will not risk getting a dog shot, or a complaint from LE since we all have professional careers - again this is a hobby. We also carry our own liability insurance. So if this fits you, I'm your man.

Yep, been running them alot, but it is getting ready to get busy for us now that deer season is winding down. We have several farmers that don't want to disturb their deer hunting plans, but want us there before rice planting begins. We have found more success running them at night, but sometimes we run them with little to no rest. We have one farm we hit at midnight, and at 2pm we were still tying them up. That's the dumb ones, they don't run far and the dogs have a field day. Our old farms have hogs running as soon as we drop the tailgates and it takes us a while to stop them.

Man, I can spend all day explaining traps to you! They have so many!!! Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on those little 4x8 traps that sell at ranch stores and internet sites for 300-400 bucks. You will catch a hog or two in them occasionally, and if you have alot of hogs, you will think you did something - but your spinning your wheels. If you got a hog "problem" the smallest trap to use is 16x16 w/ a swing door. On a big piece of land, I would erect a huge trap in the shape of a big "6" using cattle panels where the circle of the "6" is at least 30-35 yards across. Make sure this is done in the woods, and dig a hole with a shovel to hold water. Tie the bend of the "6" open for at least a 2-3 week period and feed the hell out of it. Then sneak in during the daylight, untie the opening and let the fun begin. I would not check it everyday, stay out of the area and let them fill it up. The longer pigs are in the trap, the more the others will want to go in to meet them. It will soon be loaded!!!!
