I love the movie and watch it all the time. I could never really explain to my friends what Paris Island was like and now I just tell them to watch the movie. Everything in the movie is exceptionally accurate. It seems funny now, but 30 years ago when I was at Paris Island during this very time of year I was a pretty scared kid. From standing on foot lockers for a hygiene inspection to close order drill to having to suck up my fear of heights on the obstacle course the movie brings back so many memories for me. I had forgotten about praying with my rifle in bed till the movie came out and reminded me about it. One morning, while standing there in our drawers, one of the black guys ****** pops out of his skivies while we were standing at attention - the DI went nuts on him and asked him *** his ****** was doing out of his drawers! Of course, we couldn't take it and started laughing and he PTed our azzes off for about an hour.
