Default Can I use the cheap tcw3 marine oil

Can I use the cheap tcw3 marine oil in my Mercury engine? Until now I have only used the Quicksilver 2 cycle oil for $30 a gallon. I am open for suggestions for something cheaper.

Tcw3 meets all mfr recommendations. Using the spensive oil only makes u poorer and name brands richer,IMO.

I've always used the pennzoil premium twc3 2stroke oil, its 18.99 a gallon, but I thought there was a gallon of quiksilver for 20.99 it just isn't synthetic, does it matter if its synthetic oil when its going to burn with gas anyway? those are my questions?

as much as an outboard cost, i would not use nothing but recommended oil. my evinrude uses xd-50 and i hear e-techs use xd-100(fully synthetic) i know for those motors, there's a setting to switch from xd-100 to twc3

When you look at price per gallon per gallon of fuel you are talking a few cents. I have had several mechanics tell me to run Yamalube when I had a 2 stroke Yamaha. It was never worth it to me to be cheap on something that can leave u dead in the water.

I think thats what I've been using but its still cheaper than a lot of other brands, I haven't had any problems but I got an older motor and its probably better stuff then the oil they had when the motor was made.

i was told by a mech that he only runs o.p. oil in his motor and he runs a hopped up 250 merc on a bullet. i am runnin a 25 yammy and i was askin him about the oil i run which is amsoil and he said it was really good stuff if you want to spend the money which he then told me again about his o.p. oil, so i finally ask him about this o.p. oil to be told that it stands for other peoples oil. he told me when he removes oil systems from outboards he just keeps the oil out of the tank if people dont want it and mixes it in his gas.

i think as long as you don't have a special ram injected/direct injected 2 stroke , the older 2 strokes won't have a problem.Try it on a newer higher technology stroke....like a FICHT or a ETEC or HPDI......no way
