Cheers South Florida / Florida Keys Advice Needed

I'm heading down to Key Largo for about a week next month and am trying to decide where to go for the last two days we're there. I'm attending my cousin's wedding in Key Largo, so we'll be staying there the first four nights, but we are going to spend two more nights somewhere before heading home.

I'd appreciate any input from those who have been to the Keys. Our choices are:

Stay in Key Largo
Key West
Duck Cay
Islamorada
Miami (South Beach)
Ft. Lauderdale

It'll be just my wife and I. We're not looking to fish those last two days...just mainly relax and see what we can see.

The keys are awesome, it takes about 3 hours to get to Key West from Key Largo, not a long distance but the speed limit is SLOW! Key West is sorta cool. Lots of homosexuals just a fair warning! Islamorada is cool, you have to stop in the World Wide Sportsman. One of those keys has a place where you can feed the tarpon. Its insane! You buy bait and hand feed 150 lb tarpon. Hundreds of them swimming around the dock. You can do the whole keys thing in a day though and maybe stay in Key West. Ft Lauderdale is nice as well. If you have time run through 'alligator alley' can't think of the name of the hwy but its cool and it will take you thru some of the everglades.

Lobster season may be going on, that is a blast scuba diving for them. I would recommend Ft Lauderdale for a night. There are some good restaurants/bars that have fishing piers and you can drink beer and watch em fish for little dink spanish mackerel!

Was there last summer and had a great time. Our last night we stayed in Miami and it was a big let down. Unless you are into Latino music and Latino dancing, spend has much time as you can in the Keys.

We stayed at our friends vacation home in Duck Key which was awesome. Great diving and fishing. We then spent 2 nights in Key West which was a blast. Granted the fishing is not as good as ours, it is different, so you may want to check that out. If you stay in Key West, Duval Street will take up most of your time, and be sure to visit Irish Kevins (great place). Lots of shops and the museum was great if you are into treasure hunting or diving.

If you really want to impress the wife, book a night or two at Hawk's Cay, where you can swim w/ the dolphins at your resort. We passed this place everytime we left on the boat and it is NICE!

You will have a blast! Keep your eye out for the "Savana Lynn" and the "Pura Vida" - both are 36' Yellowfins w/ triple Verado's on the back. They are not charters, but fish alot, so chances are good you see them in Duck Key. Just mention your a "cajun" and heard they like crawfish - you'll enjoy their company!
